Research Support ProgramBackground and PurposeThe Collaborative Center for Literacy Development (CCLD) supports research that is aligned with its literacy agenda for Kentucky. The center provides funds for Kentucky's state university faculty to conduct and disseminate innovative literacy research focused on the following priority topics: 1. Teacher Preparation in Literacy 2. Family and Community Literacy 3. Student Achievement Data 4. School and Program Content
Funding OpportunitiesCurrently, CCLD is sponsoring two opportunities to encourage and support literacy research relevant to the designated priority topics listed above. The Research Agenda Support Program description and guidelines will assist in the application process. - Small Research Grants
Applicants may request up to $10,000 to support a research study that advances CCLD's research agenda for Kentucky. These awards may be used to support data collection, data analysis, research assistants, and salary support. At the end of the award period, a full report will be submitted to CCLD and disseminated via the CCLD website. Also, awardees agree to author a policy brief or summary to be included in CCLD's research newsletter. Proposal instructions and award criteria are attached. Approximately five small research grants will be awarded. Applications are due by February 8, 2010.
- Literacy Dissertation or Thesis Support Awards
Applicants may request up to $1,000 to support research for a master's thesis or doctoral dissertation in literacy. These awards may be used to support the work in areas such as data collection, data analysis, or travel. Awardees agree to provide CCLD with a summary of their study for inclusion in the CCLD research newsletter. Awards will be made monthly.
